Hi, I’m Liz!
I'm Liz Cambridge, a registered Canadian Occupational Therapist. I graduated with my Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Toronto in 2017 and have spent the last eight years focusing on paediatric rehabilitation. My goal at Building Skills Together is to provide a supportive, safe, and fun space for children to learn skills enabling them to reach their full potential. I use a collaborative approach to support caregivers and children so they feel comfortable and confident navigating their journey together.
I work at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital supporting children and youth with cerebral palsy, complex medical needs, developmental delay, Autism, ADHD, executive dysfunction, motor learning challenges, and many other diagnoses.
I worked at SickKids, ErinoakKids (centre and school based services), LIFEspan Service at Toronto Rehab UHN where I gained valuable knowledge of the transition points in a child and family’s journey through the healthcare system.
I completed professional educational courses on handwriting, assessment and treatment for infants and children with cerebral palsy including Baby-CIMT (constraint induced movement therapy), cognitive rehabilitation, emotional regulation, and feeding.
I find that my clinical experience is the most valuable learning tool. For me, a diagnosis only tells part of the story. As an occupational therapist, I look at the whole child and focus on maximizing function to reach their goals.
In my sessions, I strive to get the most ROI (return on imagination)! I use the child’s interests to guide the therapy plan as we learn best when its engaging and fun. Some of my successful techniques are the creation of letter games for handwriting, theme parks for executive functioning, scavenger hunts for emotional regulation.
If you think I would be a good fit for your child and your family, please reach out to learn more about my services and book an intake call.
