Hi, I’m Liz!
I'm Liz Cambridge, a registered Canadian Occupational Therapist. I graduated with my Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Toronto in 2017 and have spent the last seven years focusing on Pediatric rehabilitation.
I realize that some children and families are not able to access the support they need in a timely manner or are not eligible for services. My goal at Building Skills Together is to provide a supportive, safe, and fun space for children to learn skills enabling them to reach their full potential. I use a collaborative approach to support caregivers and the child so they feel comfortable and confident navigating their journey together.
I work at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital supporting children and youth with cerebral palsy, complex medical needs, developmental delay, Autism, ADHD, executive dysfunction, motor learning challenges, and many other diagnoses.
I have experience working across the continuum of care (acute care, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, school care, and private practice)
I completed professional educational courses on handwriting, assessment and treatment for infants and children with Cerebral Palsy including Baby-CIMT (constraint induced movement therapy), and feeding.
I find that my clinical experience is the most valuable learning tool. For me, a diagnosis only tells part of the story. As an occupational therapist, I look at the whole child and focus on maximizing function to reach their goals.
My goal at Building Skills Together is to provide a supportive, safe, and fun space for children to learn skills enabling them to reach their full potential – to do the things they want and need to do at home, day care, and/or school. I use a collaborative approach to support caregivers and the child, so they feel comfortable and confident navigating their journey together.
In a session with me, I strive to get the most ROI (return on imagination)! I use the child’s interests to guide the therapy plan as we learn best when its engaging and fun. Some of my successful techniques are the creation of letter games for handwriting, theme parks for executive functioning, arts and crafts for emotional regulation.
If you think I would be a good fit for your child and your family, please reach out at liz@buildingskillstogether.com to learn more about my services or book an intake call.
